Yes, I Cannes

Bonjour!

Yesterday evening I gave Cannes another try. You remember the complete failure Matilda and I suffered the last time we gave it a go? Fortunately, this time it all worked out pretty good. Not at all as we expected, but does it ever? We met up by the train station at nine o 'clock. You might think that is early, at least I did, so imagine my surprise when this guy came up to me and tried to take my hand mirror from me so he could hold it up for me. I gently said thanks but no thanks and turned my back to him to continue examining my pores. But French guys are so persistent! Of course he didn't get the hint, but kept trying to talk to me. I said "Non, c'est bon, merci" (which means "No, it's fine, thank you"). Quite polite, as is necessary in France, but still really strictly. And still he kept trying to get kontact with me and even tried to touch me! Then I had enough and snapped in a really bitchy voice "Qu'est-ce que tu veux alors?!" ("What do you want from me, huh?!"). He glared a little and said something about me being mean but at least it worked :D

When all the girls came, we had some champagne and wine right in front of the station and then hopped on the train, with one of the bottles safely hidden in a white plastic bag so we could have a few sips on the way. The train ride was great actually! We took some pictures, talked, listened to music and had a few laughs. The time flew by and all of a sudden we were in Cannes.

First of all we went to a bar where there was karaoke! Oh, I love karaoke! Of course I had to sing a little, but due to the limited choises they offered, I had to go with "Baby one more time"... At least I knew the lyrics :D And after a while, I sang an ABBA duett with Julia and yet another with Matilda! Money money money for the win!

Not only did we sing, but we also had shots! Tequila, Malibu, Tequila, Malibu! So great to do stuff like that when all the girls are gathered together, having fun, enjoying a great night out!

Unfortunately, things slowed down a little around two o 'clock. We went from club to club which weren't really that great and in the end we found ourselves standing in front of a kebab restaurant with the saliva streaming down our chins. Of curse I baught myself a kebab. Usually I don't like it that much but oh, this one was goooooooooood! I devoured the whole thing!

We started talking about how we would be able to get home, smething that is not so easy with the poor communications in France, especially three o 'clock in the morning the day before the National Day. All of a sudden I found myself and the girls talking to three Brittish guys (LOVING THE ACCENT!). Ther names were Pete, Finn and Jamie and we decided to hang with them instead of going home. So Matilda, Tamsin, Nadia and I hopped into two taxis with them and went to their place in a suburb (?) called Sofia which is close to Antibes. We had some drinks and talked. We started preparing the jacuzzi but after a while everyone forgot about it. Almost everyone fell asleep to one of the funny episodes of Friends :)

In the morning we had choclate pudding for breakfast. You know the same kind that Charlotte in Sex and the City always had when they were in Mexico? It was good but not too satiating. While the others were getting ready and discussing how the f**k to get home, I had a little jacuzzi fun and even managed to get in some tanning minutes on the rooftop balcony. It felt great and relaxing. When we had figured out some kind of a plan for how to get home, Pete and Finn followed us to a bus station from which it would be easier to continue on towards Nice.

For a few minutes we stood in the hot sun with our arms stretched out towards the bypassing cars and our thumbs pointing upwards. Hitchhiking can be a bitch, but in the end a really nice man picked us up and gave us a ride to the nearest train station which was Antibes. We took the train to Nice and came home safe and sound and that's pretty much the whole story :) Loving the spontaniosity of it!

Well, all Ican say now is...

Happy National day of France!
