I have arrived!
Something I have looked forward to for about four months has finally happened: I AM IN NICE!!!!
But now I'm way ahead of myself. I will start by telling you about yesterday, my last day in Sweden. Cliff notes version - it couldn't have been better. Everything was perfect! I met with my friends and family for a barbeque on the beach. I am so happy that we did it It was absolutely great. I got to show my friends Sigtuna as well and I felt as proud as the mother who was mock-yelling at her son when he threw pasta all over Samantha in Sex and the City.
It was so fun when the girls and I tried to light the fire... It was not as easy as any of us thought it would be. In the end we poured loads of a flammable liquid on it so the fire got really big for a while. And finally, we were able to start making the food. It was a mix of different stuff like chicken, zuccini, mushrooms, sausages; fish... Well, the more food the better! As usual, I ate a lot :D All in all, this day will have a special place in my heart. It has even been nominated in the category "Day of the Year" in Milienqy Awards 2010 ;)
But I'm not going to lye to you. It was hard to say goodbye. I will miss everybody so much!
When I came home at eight o'clock, something less pleasurable was waiting for me - packing. This packing-the-last-minute is not really my style but I have had a lot of other things to do lately so I hadn't even started packing yet then... It was manageable at first, then it got boring and then I just wanted it to be over. It's incredible that I didn't start crying because I really wanted to. I finished packing at two o'cock in the morning. The contents of my life for the two coming months in two suitcases, a purse and a little plastic bag. Oh my, was I tired by then...
...And I had to go up at five thirty, after only three and a half hours' sleep. Not fun. But the main thing is that I made it in time to the airport. Actually, my mother and I even had time to eat breafast there together!
My plane left Arlanda Airport for Frankfurt at nine fifteen. I managed to sleep a little during the two hour flight. In Germany I switched to the plane heading for Nice, which was almost an hour late. It wasn't so bad but really frustrating because I had no reception there at all! An advice to people who plan on buying a new phone or something - DON'T GET TELENOR! And stupidly enough, I had left my Comviq SIM-card at home. This meant that I had no way of contacting my host family in Nice. I actually almost starded to get a little nervous when I arrived in Nice and couldn't find them anywhere. Everywhere I looked I saw people holding signs of different shapes and sizes with different names on them but none of them said mine! Fortunatelly I got the idea to ask to borrow the phone at the information desk and called the family. Soon afterwards they came and picked me up!
My first impression of Nice is that it is way more than just nice. I have a feeling that I will really love it here! It's 24°C,a long beach not too far from here, palm trees and a big bed in my room! I really like my host family as well!
Now I am sitting and typing this on their computer with a keyboard that has a completely different order than any other I have ever seen. Where "A"is supposed to be there is the "Q" and so on.
Tomorrow is my first day at school and I am looking forward to it! The only thing I am a little worried about is whether I will manage to nog get lost or not haha :P That remains to be seen!
But now something smells too good from the kitchen for me to be able to concentrate anymore :) Later! /Milena

(google translate <3) PUSS! <3
